ANTRUM

VIDEODROME

RENT-A-PAL

Antrum's narrative format is unique as its presented as a documentary in the prologue about the lost film 'Antrum'. It establishes to the audience the importance of the film as its known to be cursed. This is an all time favorite horror of mine and is a movie i also look back on when wanting to have insight on unique story telling.

Videodrome has an interesting blend of linear and surrealism. Its hard to understand what's reality or if our protagonist is losing his mind, similar to American Psycho. The idea of desensitization by using this underground show like its early Liveleak is interesting to me. The sentience of what's behind the screen is also always something to think about with this one.

Rent-A-Pal is a shudder exclusive and is similar to Natalie's Night In. Its either assumed that the man inside the TV is either sentient and talking to our protagonist or he is imagining a friend from his delusions of isolation. Very good movie.

PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE

Martin and Rowans Laugh In is a show i have known about for a while and watching it reminded me of how much of a connection i have with this era of television/entertainment. I referenced to this show whenever i was making an artistic choice for the set and designs of the characters.

USS Calister is an episode from one of my favourite television series 'Black Mirror'. It goes into alot of philosophical perspective of sentience and memory through the entrapment of the characters having the memories of their previous lives outside of the game. Its very similar to the game 'Soma'.

Phantom of the Paradise is another movie i reference to when trying to explore places of surrealism. Similar cinematography to David Lynch. This story is phenomenal and has great references to old tales like Dorian Gray and Phantom of the Opera, i liked Brian Depalmers take on it.
